Call for Faces

Hello Everyone!

I need your face! Yes, you read that right. I need models for my social media and to boost my Mary Kay business. I need all ages, face shapes, skin tones, etc. I want to show what I am capable of. For each model, I will feature you on my blog, Pinterest and Instagram. You will get to approve the before and after photos. I need Porcelain Goddesses, Latina Divas, Bronze Beauties and everyone in between. I need all hair styles, colors and textures. Every eye color and shape! Bring it on!

I've been struggling lately. If I'm honest, I am feeling a little lost. I am a soldier in the US Army. If you've read this blog, you know I'm a male Mary Kay Consultant and I LOVE IT. I'm a decent soldier. I'm good at my job. At the moment, I am only a Reservist. I can't go back active duty since there are too many who have the same job as me. I have one bachelor's degree (Russian) and I am almost done with the second (History, if I ever get motivated to finish it). Neither are getting me any further in my Army career. They are also apparently not impressive to civilian employers. So far, very few have called me back. I'm beginning to think I am unhireable. Sad!

That leaves me to my passions: Russian, Figure Skating, Soldier, Teacher, Clearance Manager and Mary Kay. To date, not a single man has ever become a National Sales Director in Mary Kay. Why not me? I am so good at this business. I just need people to teach. I need faces to showcase my ability. Through all my soul searching--oddly enough, Mary Kay is where I see myself. This is what I would like to do for a career.

Unfortunately, I cannot do this make over for free. It will cost $58.85. Why such an odd amount? That is the exact cost of the Mary Kay Brush Set, with sales tax.We can discuss payment options. I'm not unreasonable.
I will come out with your brushes and show you how to use them. We will then create a custom look, just for you. It can be as glam as you'd like it to be. It can also be an every day business look. You are even welcome to try more than one look! These will be your brushes! You paid for them. Plus, you will be sure that they are clean and never been used.

I will give you two free gifts for you efforts. You will get a Foundation Brush ($10), matched to the Foundation you use, either Powder or Liquid. I will also give you a free Brush Cleaner ($10). So, you already start out with $20 in free gifts.

I will also let you purchase items from my sale stash. I have eye shadow for $5; lip liner, eye liner, lip gloss, lip stick, cheek color, bronzer and foundation for $10; fragrance and more foundation for $15; body care for $25. I need to move some inventory to make room for new items. So, you get discounts. My sales items are pretty extensive, or I'd upload pictures. Come see what I've got while I have it. Once it's gone, replacements will be full price. And some items I can't get more of. They were limited edition and specialty items.

If this isn't for you, please spread the word. Since I am a man in Mary Kay, I can't just walk up to strangers and ask if I can come over and show them some skin care or the trendiest lipstick shade. That's just creepy. So, I must work off referrals.

I will travel to anywhere in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, but those might have to wait until I'm making more money. :) The further I travel, the more help I will need from you. Bring your friends along. The more the merrier!

Please share! It's time I take the leap of faith and declare that I am all in with this business. My contact information is on my website: www.marykay.com/dmanor.

Take care!

Mary Kay Tools: Compacts and Applicators

I figured I should continue the blog about Mary Kay tools, since there are a bunch more. Each, of course, has a different purpose and will appeal to a different customer. Mary Kay thinks of just about everything. Here are some great items from Mary Kay.

Mary Kay Compact Mini ($16, plus tax--empty). I actually think the Compact Mini is "cute". It fits in the palm of my hand. This compact has a magnetic well that will fit the Mary Kay Mineral Eye Colors, Cheek Colors, Bronzers, Highlighters or the Foundations that come in their own metal square (Pressed Powder, Cream to Powder and Cream Foundations). You can change the products in the well since they pop out. You can change them once they are empty or change them daily depending on the look you are creating. The applicators and brushes fit in a compartment underneath the magnetic well. Personally, I think this is an ideal foundation compact, but it is versatile.

Mary Kay Compact ($18, plus tax--empty). This compact was actually the first compact that came out with the redesign. This one features the same magnetic well as the Compact Mini, but has space for a Mary Kay Lipstick or Lip Gloss. The tools fit on the side instead of underneath the magnetic well.

Mary Kay Compact Pro ($35, plus tax--empty). This compact builds upon the other two. This one has three magnetic wells. The Compact Pro can hold a Foundation, two Cheek Colors and six Eye Colors, or any similar combination. This compact also has space for two Lipsticks or Lip Glosses, Eyeliner and Lip Liners, plus tools. The Compact Pro is perfect for the girl who just loves make-up.

Earlier, we talked about Brushes. Unfortunately, none of those Brushes will fit in any of the compacts. But, Mary Kay does have applicators that will fit. The first is the Mary Kay Eye Applicators ($2.50, plus tax). A small Eye Color Brush and a small Sponge Applicator come in this set. These are great for the teen, the individual just learning how to apply make-up or for the person who just uses make-up occasionally. They are also perfect for the touch ups throughout the day. The make-up fashionista should use the full size Brushes.

Mary Kay Compact Cheek Brush ($2.50). This Compact Cheek Brush fits in any of the compacts and is perfect to dust a little Cheek Color or Bronzer onto the cheeks. This brush is also perfect for touch ups.

Mary Kay Compact Foundation Brush ($4, plus tax). This Brush is a little larger and takes up the entire space reserved for the tools. This brush is meant to apply foundation and is perfect for touch ups throughout the day.

Mary Kay Cosmetic Sponges ($2.50, plus tax). Each pack comes with two sponges. These sponges are great for cream products, like Cream Foundation, Cream to Powder Foundation or Cream Cheek Color. These should be changed periodically for hygienic purposes.

Mary Kay Brow Tools ($4, plus tax). The Brow Tool set has three mini tools in it. The small angled bristle brush is great for using Mineral Eye Color to add color and definition to the eyebrows or to help spread the color from Eyebrow Pencils. Another brush helps tame the brows before using Mary Kay Brow Gel to set them. The third tool is a set of tweezers. And remember, you pluck a chicken, but you tweeze eyebrows.

Of course, all of the Brushes mentioned here can be cleaned with the Mary Kay Brush Cleaner mentioned in a previous post.

As always, I hope you find this information helpful. Thanks for reading. I can see the traffic and it's from all over the world. And I feel like I should know some things about how to post links and such, but I am still learning. I'm hoping this makes my blog look a bit more professional. Please feel free to follow, comment or review a product. I welcome it. And I am always reachable at www.marykay.com/dmanor.

Take care!

Mary Kay Tools: Brushes

We started talking about the great make-up items that Mary Kay has. Before I get into it too much, I thought I should talk about the tools before the make-up. You can have the best make-up in the world, but if you have terrible tools to use, store or apply your make-up, then there is really no point.

Mary Kay just updated their line of brushes. Great brushes are another of Hollywood's best kept secrets. Each brush serves a purpose and is made differently. So let's jump in!

Powder Brush ($16, plus tax). This brush is made of natural bristles. Anytime you are using a powder product, whether it is your foundation, check color, eye color or bronzer, you want a natural bristle brush. The natural bristles pick up the powder, but don't hold onto them when you are sweeping them onto your face. The Powder Brush is perfect for Loose Powder or Pressed Powder Foundations to help set your make-up. This brush is also great for bronzers to contour the face.

Cheek Brush ($14, plus tax). Again, we have natural bristles. This brush is dome shaped so that it is easy to brush your cheek color or bronzer along the cheek bones or to highlight the apples of your cheeks.

Eye Color Brush ($10, plus tax). Natural bristle brush, which helps evenly apply Mary Kay Mineral Powder Eye Colors. This is great for color applied all over the eyelid and even up to the brow bone.

Mary Kay Eye Color Brush

Eye Crease Brush ($10, plus tax). Natural bristle brush and meant to do exactly what its name says, apply color to the crease of the eyes. This brush is also perfect for blending colors.

Eyeliner/Eyebrow Brush ($10, plus tax). Natural bristles, which are short, angled and firm, help define the brows and lashes. On the other end, a brush and a comb to tame brows.

Mary Kay Eyeliner/Eyebrow Brush

Mary Kay had a brush set, with a bag to hold all the brushes for $48, plus tax. Mary Kay has updated all of the brushes and the bag they come in. The new retail price is now $55. The great thing is, the new bag will hold any of the Mary Kay Compacts. The previous one was not big enough for the Compact Pro. Someone who uses all of the brushes in the set would most likely want the Compact Pro. Also, it was not possible to order the brushes separately. Now you can. So you don't need to buy the whole set if you just need a brush or two. You will, however, save $5 if you buy the whole set, plus get the bag (the bag does not sell separately). You get all 5 above mentioned brushes in the set.

Mary Kay Brush Collection

There are a few more brushes that are worth mentioning. The first is the Mary Kay Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush ($10, plus tax). This is the first brush made of synthetic bristles. Since we are talking about cream products, a brush with synthetic bristles is the best choice. Synthetic bristles do not absorb the products you are using. A natural bristle brush will. So, in the long run, you use less product with this brush. Perfect for applying Eye Primer, Cream Eye Color or Concealer. NOTE: A Primer is not necessary for the Cream Eye Colors, but is recommended for the Mineral Eye Colors. Also, it is recommended for hygiene purposes to dedicate one brush for each cream product.

Mary Kay Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush

Mary Kay Eye Smudger Brush ($10, plus tax). Another natural bristle brush. This brush is perfect for smudging eye color along the lash line. It is also the brush recommended for the smoky affect in eye color.

The last two brushes we will talk about are for foundation. So, the brush list is a little out of order, since you would use a foundation brush before you would use any of the rest of the brushes already mentioned. The first is the Mineral Foundation Brush ($10, plus tax). Again, natural bristles for the Mineral Powder Foundation. This brush is ideal to help slowly build your foundation until you get the desired coverage.

Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation Brush

Mary Kay Liquid Foundation Brush ($10, plus tax). Synthetic bristles, which are great for any of the Mary Kay liquid Foundations (Medium Coverage, Timewise or Tinted Moisturizer). These bristles, again won't absorb the Foundation, so you use less. As an added bonus, you don't add any extra oil from your skin when you apply your foundation with a brush.

Mary Kay Liquid Foundation Brush

I've had some people ask why they would spend nearly $100 on brushes. I agree, it is a rather large sum of money for brushes. Remember, the better the brush, the easier it will be to apply the product. Additionally, Mary Kay just debuted a new product to help clean the brushes, extend their use and protect your investment. Mary Kay Brush Cleaner ($10, plus tax) will help keep your brushes clean and ready to use.

Again, I'd love to hear from you. Any comments, questions or product reviews are welcome. Again, my website is www.marykay.com/dmanor.

Take care!
